Do you want to spend the night in a special and centuries-old 3-star hotel in the center of Amsterdam? Then book a room in the attractive Hotel Prins Hendrik. It is opposite the Central Station and close to the Anne Frank House, De Bijenkorf and the Royal Palace. From our hotel you can walk into the oldest and most vibrant area of Amsterdam for a pleasant evening out. You will find numerous bars, theaters and cozy restaurants in the lively and busy Red Light District.
Hotel Prins Hendrik is a friendly hotel with an informal atmosphere and good service. We are of course available 24 hours a day! If you are coming by car, we can advise you on the various parking options in the area.
The hotel is already a few hundred years old. Until 1900 it was still eleven separate buildings with pubs and above that the so-called "shipman's lodgings". These buildings are now connected to each other by means of stairs, corridors and passageways, but they have all retained their own character. This makes all 46 rooms unique with its own face and history.
Did you know that Hotel Prins Hendrik is a place of pilgrimage for jazz lovers, because jazz legend Chet Baker spent the night here in 1988, but came to a tragic end. On the outside wall you can see a memorial plaque in front of him.
Hotel Prins Hendrik has its own bar, Café De Groote Swaen. In our traditional old Amsterdam cafe from 1789, both hotel guests and local residents come to drink. You can also have a bite to eat and order dishes from the menu of our restaurant De Kroonprins, which is also located in the complex. In the summer it is also nice to sit on our spacious terrace with a view of the Sint Nicolaas church, the Zeedijk and the Central Station
